Books

I travel between two worlds on the internet: Facebook and the blog-0-sphere. I thought it might be fun to mix the two because I had fun with this from Facebook.
Rules (as I received them): “Don’t take too long to think about it. List 15 books you’ve read that WILL ALWAYS STICK WITH YOU. They should be the first 15 you can recall in no more than 15 minutes. Then there were more rules that just apply to Facebook
The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper
Grimms Fairy Tales
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
1984 by George Orwell
2001, A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clark
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr
Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann
Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy
One of Ours by Willa Cather
Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Lord of the Flies by William Golding

  1. There are many other books too but it was sort of self-revealing which ones I came up with first. Celeste I'm still saving Sleepwalking Land till we leave here as I still have library books which have to be returned and then I'm on my own for a while (bookwise). Hopefully all will go well between now and Labor Day when we get help packing up. But then I don't know how long it will be till I get back on the internet.

  2. I loved your list, there are three books from your list that I have not read. But I am rereading right now "War and Peace", translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhousky, and I cannot put it down. The same book read at different ages is a completely new book.
Karin, I may be coming to the States at the end of this month - for work -, and would love to have an address to send you my art book. This is my email address mcmaia09@gmail.com. The book is so heavy that it is very expensive to mail it from Spain. I would love you to have a copy.

  3. I just arrived in Madrid and found a house that has been closed for 2 months. Oh the joys of housecleaning that await me...
